As a blogger you might be thinking "I just don't have the time to promote my blog".
But remember that since blogging is a "Content Management System" for your web site, it is designed to assist you to post a message in minutes. (Or if it's a short one ... in seconds.)
Successful bloggers will say that there IS in fact a formula to creating a successful blog. But the good news is that these steps are easy to do ... and in most cases only take a few minutes.
Step 1: Post often. Set aside 5 minutes each morning, to add one new article.
Emailing is the #1 activity online (Pew Internet Survey) . And I have often said that blogging is as simple as emailing.
The reason that you want to blog every day is so that you can PING your way to the top. What's pinging? Well think of a submarine using sonar. That little "ping" sound is bouncing around looking for something. Same with an internet ping.
In the case of your blog ... when you post something you need to tell the world. When you create a new post, you will see on the right side of the screen, a drop-down menu called Advanced Options. If the menu isn't visible, click the arrow on the right to display it. This will display additional options such as Format Date, Sticky Posts, and Notifications.
For pinging, we are interested in the notifications area. Look for the box that says "Use auto-discovery for remote pings" and place a check box there.

Now that you have seen this feature, you don't actually have to click it every time. There's a way to turn this on as a default. This will take you only a few seconds.
In your main nav bar - go to Settings and Security.

Then click on POSTS

Now place a check inside THIS box

Voila! Now each time you post something ... your post will get pinged to the sites that collect RSS feeds of blogs!
So back to my original point? Since you are posting frequently, you are sending more frequent pings. And by having LOTS of content (which you will develop if you blog daily) it will help you to develop a large, loyal audience. This large readership will become your base to earn revenue from your blog, so posting often is crucial to making it profitable.
If your blog is highly targeted to your niche market you might not even need tons of traffic. Capture your field and provide the best source of information for your readers!
